What should you do if your roof is leaking?
Practical advice from Edinburgh Roofing Group.
- Stay safe first. If water is near electrics or the ceiling is bulging, keep clear and switch off power to the area.
- Catch the water with buckets and move belongings. If a ceiling is bulging, a small hole made carefully can release the water in a controlled way.
- Photograph the damage for your insurer, then call a roofer. Do not climb onto the roof yourself.
- Ask for a written quote and, if possible, photos of the problem area before and after.
